Bummed

Those of you who know me are cognizant of the well-known fact that I've never been one to complain, but there are some things that are really bugging me and I just need to get them off my chest:

  • My two minute car wash sometimes takes up to seven minutes.
  • My computer isn’t fully protected.
  • I have jury duty.
  • My windows need washing.
  • My bathtub needs re-glazing.
  • I’m missing a hubcap.
  • I have a stack of papers to grade.
  • I’m scared I might get bedbugs.
  • It's hard to carry 12-packs of Diet Cokes up two flights of stairs.
  • I agreed to tutor a child after school.
  • The house plant behind my French door is dead.
  • My five-year-old refrigerator hasn’t been cleaned out ever.
  • The hood of my car is covered with some kind of sticky goop.
  • I’m out of toothpaste.
  • I need to vacuum but the bag is full.
  • Sometimes the mail doesn't come until after four when I'm already in my pajamas.
  • I hate meetings.
  • My trashcans need emptying.
  • I think I have a hammer toe.
  • My winter shoes need re-soling.
  • I have some kind of flying bugs in my pantry.
  • My library card has expired.
  • I’m afraid to change lanes.
  • I don’t like people as much as I used to.
  • I need new underwear.
  • I think my hair might be falling out.
  • House Hunters is a re-run.
  • I’ll probably never get to New Zealand.
  • I'm overbooked.
  • My car emission test is coming up.
  • My television screen is so dusty I can’t tell what the Iron Chefs are cooking up.
  • People park in my space.
  • Publix is occasionally out of my favorite muffins.
  • My flu shot might hurt.
  • Sometimes people are mean to me.

There's plenty more but I don't want to ruin my reputation as a real trooper, so I'm going to buck up and get out the bug spray.

I wonder if I can use Raid to dust my TV screen.

OK - you've had it. Sit down. Take a big breath. Repeat until can breathe normally.
OK - now worry about all that stuff tomorrow!

That pretty much qualifies as "boils and sores".
Shouldn't have laughed at you but the bed bugs got me.
Hope you get an interesting trial anyway.

A perfect picture to go with this. I have some of the same complaints...but I have been to New Zealand and that makes up for so much.

Rub it in, Olga!

Car wash, what's that? I only HAVE 1 hubcap. I never change lanes. I think the sticky goop on the hood of my car is what is holding the car together. I did get my bathtub reglazed and the $400.00 was sooooooo worth it!

Oh, you've been in my house.

OMG OMG
I too am missing a hub cap and think that would be a great title for a blog. I bought 4 of the wrong kind in a pack and have yet to take them back, I hate service desks oxymoron if I ever heard one. Disservice desks with the snarliest aliens I've ever encountered this size of Jupiter.
And apart from bugs just about every other item on the Kvetch List.
Hair loss - check.
Hammer toes and other weird feety things - check. And on.

You can part on any part of my 7-1/2 acres that you want, my dear. Any time.

PS And Jury Duty was a blast for me - never made it to the courtroom but the panel room had loads of stuff to do, puzzles, wifi, conversations....

I once had jury duty THE FIRST MONTH OF THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR. Just about put me over the edge. My sub knew my students better than I did. I didn't know from one morning to the next whether I was teaching or jury-duty-ing on a given day, until I'd phoned the court house at 6:00 a.m. And what really scared me is that I was enjoying jury duty more than those first, gruesome weeks of school. For the missing hubcap, by two replacement caps for one side of your car. No one will notice they don't match the hubcaps on the other side of your car!

...and i worry about bedbugs, too. An elementary school in mid-Maine had to close this week due to bedbugs in two of the classrooms.

Phew, I thought you might start to complain after all.

PS: And i thought I was the only one who never cleans out her fridge!

Thanks everyone for making me feel better. WWW, I'm afraid I ordered some hubcaps online and they are supposed to arrive today. I have a bad feeling that they aren't going to fit. Oh crap.

This is a great list! It should go into a time capsule, I think, as it reflects the kinds of daily frustrations that plot to undo us all on a daily basis! What a find for some archeologist! Hang in there Marcia. I guess you know you are not alone with your list by now but you should know, too, that your lists are a catalyst for appreciation.

You make the best lists.

and Cile, you make such good comments. You've got to be the most nurturing person I know.
